The Lion Spirit (Miracle Mural) China 2015
Location: Longhushan Huawuan town, Jiangxi China From 23 April to 12 May 2015, Social Creatives created a mural as part of the opening of the Longhushan Huaquan town in Jiangxi, China which is also the birth place of Taoism. This gallery consisted of murals painted by esteemed mural artists from all over the world. The theme and artistic direction was set out by our host, the legendary Mr Liu Chia Chang (Liu Jia Zhang) and as a result our mural “The Lion Spirit” was born. The purpose of the gallery is to inspire visitors to stop momentarily in their tracks, making them reflect and contemplate on the murals presented to them. Mr Liu’s vision is to touch the hearts and minds of the people and to allow them to experience a brief moment of inner peace through the various murals painted in this gallery. Such a project was formed through a partnership with the Global Mural Association (GMA), and Dr Karl Schutz (the “Father of Murals”) who is also best known as the architect of the Chemainus Mural Project. A team of 7 delegates (Faris Basharahil, Rebekah Anthony, Liyana Zainudin, Rahmat bin Buang, Siti Hawa and Renny Normala) were sent to launch this mural project. Other mural artists from around the world include: Marat 'Morik' Danilyan (Russia), Fernanda Gonzalez Latrecchiana (Argentina), Serge Malenfant (President of GMA), Julien Malland (France), Steffen Juenemann (Germany), Faith (South Africa) and Charlie Johnston (Canada). Social Creatives is the only team from Asia representing Singapore (with the exception of the host country, China) among the various mural artists invited. Social Creatives believe in this learning opportunity presented in this project and a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience for our members in collaborating with a team of esteemed artists and of course the legendary Mr Liu. We are glad to learn from him, study his art collections, being allowed to be represented at his indoor art gallery and be inspired by his stories. |
