The organisation is facing numerous challenges due to Covid 19 with over six digits of revenue forgone. We have introduced a fundraising policy to help during this dark times. Please do contact us if you do require information relating to fundraising efforts.
Entity and jurisdiction
Social Creatives Ltd was incorporated on 07.07.08 as a Company Limited by Guarantee under Singapore's Companies Act. The organisation started through a pilot project in 2006-2007 to help bridge art to the heart in Singapore through painting of dustbins along Orchard Road
Social Creatives is a non-profit organisation and is registered as a charity under Singapore's Charities Act and conferred Institute of Public Character in 2009 and held it for 10 years. We were able to offer double tax-deductibles for support received through policies of Inland Revenue Administration Singapore. Our memorandum and articles of association are available upon request. Our entity operates as a public company limited by guarantee and subject to the Companies Act and Charities Act.
We operate in accordance with the highest standards of transparency based on resources available and ability. We comply with the Code of Governance as a middle sized charity administrated by the Charity Council and our sector administrator falls under the Arts and Heritage. Social Creatives is a beneficiary of a Cultural Matching Fund but faces challenges due to their changing of people and other challenges to be elaborated upon request.
Our Accounts are managed by an FCPA, Our auditors that are approved auditors by the Commissioner of Charities. Our community collaborators are fellow Charities with/or Institute of Public Character status.
Our first government funding was Creative Community Singapore (a division of Ministry of Information, Communication and the Arts). Through the requirements of Creative Community Singapore, Social Creatives founder underwent a WSQ Professional Diploma in Creative Entrepreneurship leading to a mentorship under Mr Benson Puah, CEO of the Esplanade and later a department of MICA. Mr Colin Goh, CEO of the Old Parliament House was appointed Interim Chairman of Social Creatives Ltd when the 1st Board of Directors were in transition. As of 14 Dec 2010, Mr Colin Goh resumes the position as Chairman and Mr Faris Basharahil, Interim Executive Director, was appointed Chief Executive. In 2012, the Chief Executive of Social Creatives was nominated and underwent an Executive Programme on Non-Profit Management at Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. Inline with succession planning, Mr Shaw Chai Li was nominated by the Board of Directors to replace Mr Colin Goh as Chairman of Social Creatives Ltd.
